Oh, Hey! I'm Happy!

So this is where I sort of shuffle my toe into the dirt, look at you through my eyebrows and announce,

I'm happy.

Which sort of makes me want to run and hide for the hills just admitting that to everyone, but I've sort of got my life going on right now. In fact, I feel like if I put in JUST a few more late nights, pitch a little more aggressively, and stop checking Facebook every 12 seconds, I could probably make The Dream happen.

I mean, not overnight, but I'm working on it. Facebook has a pretty strong hold on me.

I was talking to my mom on the phone the other day and even though I'm not making HUGE amounts of money (my car is a bike and I'm a pretty strict vegetarian, so those help at keeping costs low), I'm also feeling like I'm in a good place to get some building on my life done. And out of the blue, she mentioned that no matter how isolated I made myself by moving out of New York, I sound the best that I've sounded in years (aw, thanks, Mom. Even though that sounds slightly backhanded, I know you meant it as a compliment.). And I'm not even buying $700 shoes like I used to.

Why I'm happy

Let's see. This week I've:

a) talked to some amazing creatives and got excited about working with them to create some killer content
b) skiied like a powder hound with a really, really awesome ski bud
c) done a partner yoga class
d) worked all day in a coffee shop. In my yoga clothes.
e) made it a point to call each and every one of my family members. In the same week (this is big, you guys).
f) gone on dates that weren't totally terrible. Win!

I think there's a lot of truth to the statement that life isn't always about making the most money, or doing the best. I think, sometimes, if you surround yourself with people who have the same values, same interests and (honestly) similar bank account statements, you're more likely to be happy.

What's making you guys happy this week? I'm stoked to settle down and put some work in, write some content for a star client, and start growing my Facebook following (oh, hey, did you know I have a Facebook page? Go Like it. I'd be even happier than I am now!).

Thanks! Also, I totally feel you on that maturity thing. Sometimes, I'll get people who are all huffy and childish and I just smile and take the high road. And later pat myself on the back for being an actual ADULT.
